Yavatmal: The education directorate’s announce relaxing norms which made Aadhar card mandatory for availing benefits of various government sponsored schemes has brought relief to students and parents in the district.
Aadhar card was made compulsory for getting uniform, scholarship, textbooks, filling up examination forms etc. Since there is no sufficient infrastructure for providing Aadhar cards to all entitled students, parents and their wards were in distress. Despite standing in long queues at Aadhar card centres, many of them had not been able to get the card.
Over 80 Anganwadis in the district were given task of preparing Aadhar cards by the district administration but they could not cater to all the students. Those who have applied for the cards are still waiting for its receipt. The main cause for the delay is the boredom of the postal service system. The cards have piled up at post offices though people are thronging there to enquire about their receipts.
